Neighborhoods We Serve
Washington, DC, Maryland & Northern Virginia

Pink Nannies places nannies and household staff across the entire DC metro region, but no two parts of it run the same way. A household in Georgetown doesn’t need the same kind of support as one in McLean or Potomac. Here’s how we think about the region, and where each kind of placement tends to fit best.

Areas We Serve

Washington, DC

DC proper skews toward dual-career households navigating unpredictable government, political, and campaign schedules, exactly the kind of household our long-term nannies are built for: caregivers who operate independently without daily direction. The city’s diplomatic and international community also drives real demand for travel nannies who can move with a family across cities and time zones.

Neighborhoods: Georgetown, Capitol Hill, Kalorama, Logan Circle, Foxhall, Spring Valley, Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park, Dupont Circle, Tenleytown, City Center.

Maryland / DMV

Maryland’s DC suburbs, Bethesda, Potomac, Chevy Chase, run toward larger, more established households, often with multiple staff. This is where our household manager placements do the most work: coordinating nannies, housekeepers, and vendors so a multi-staff residence actually runs smoothly instead of everyone managing each other.

Northern Virginia

Northern Virginia carries a heavy concentration of government, defense, and consulting households, work that comes with the same demanding, unpredictable hours we build long-term placements around, and often enough complexity to warrant a household manager alongside the nanny.

Neighborhoods: McLean, Arlington, Alexandria, Tysons, Great Falls, Reston, Herndon, Fairfax, Clarendon, Ballston, Court House, Old Town, Del Ray, Oakton

Your questions answered.

Yes. High-profile and NDA-backed placements are a core part of our work in Washington. Founder Allison Goren spent over a decade as a nanny and newborn care specialist in ultra-high-net-worth households, where discretion was the job, and she vets and trains every DC placement against that standard. Candidates go through background checks, SSN traces, and in-depth interviews, and we match them to homes with public-facing careers, political or diplomatic ties, or media exposure. Our household managers and travel nannies carry the same discretion into the home and on the road.
Draft, pending Allison: “Most long-term nanny searches in DC take [X–Y weeks] from your first conversation with us to a nanny’s start date. The timeline depends on your schedule, the role (full-time, live-in, travel, household manager), and how specific your requirements are. Households with NDAs or unusual hours may need a little longer to find the right fit. If you’re on a tight timeline, tell us when you first reach out and we’ll tell you what’s realistic.” The site has no figure, so I didn’t invent one.
We place nannies and household staff across the entire DC metro region:

Washington, DC: Georgetown, Capitol Hill, Kalorama, Logan Circle, Foxhall, Spring Valley, Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park, Dupont Circle, Tenleytown, and City Center.
Maryland: Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Friendship Heights, Rockville, Silver Spring, Kensington, Gaithersburg, and The Kentlands.
Northern Virginia: McLean, Arlington, Alexandria, Tysons, Great Falls, Reston, Herndon, Fairfax, Clarendon, Ballston, Court House, Old Town, Del Ray, and Oakton.
Long-term nannies are the foundation of most DC placements. Government, political, and executive schedules shift constantly, and families want a caregiver who stays and works independently. Many also add household managers, especially in Maryland suburbs like Bethesda and Potomac where homes have multiple staff, and travel nannies for diplomatic and internationally connected families. Full-time, part-time, and temporary roles are all available. Most households combine two roles, and we build the placement plan around the whole household.
Every candidate we place goes through background checks, SSN traces, and in-depth interviews, and we accept fewer than 5% of applicants. A government security clearance isn’t a standard requirement for private household staff. For homes with higher security needs, such as government, diplomatic, or NDA-bound households. Tell us your requirements up front and we’ll match you with candidates who meet them.
A nanny is focused on your children: daily care, routines, activities, and development. A household manager runs the home itself, coordinating the nanny, housekeeper, and driver, managing vendors and household accounts, and keeping the family calendar and travel logistics realistic. In many DC homes the role blends into a family assistant position, and it can flex into direct childcare when needed. Many households hire both.
